Q: What is the “RARE Battle of the Brains” pitch competition?

A: Despite significant need, rare diseases are often overlooked. “RARE Battle of the Brains” is a Shark Tank-style competition featuring promising early-stage science innovators. Competitors will vie for a prize package valued at $50,000 to advance their research and help realize their vision for rare disease.
Q: Who can apply to compete?

A: Competitors meeting the following criteria should apply:
  • Orphan indication
  • Pre-clinical/Pre-Series A asset or project proposal
Q: What is the deadline to apply

A: August 31, 2017
Q: Are there fees for participating?

A: There are no fees to participate, however, there is a $350 registration fee which includes: Access to the full RARE Partnering and Investor Forum event agenda, EBD’s PartneringONE® platform, breakfast, lunch and evening reception.
Q: If accepted, what should the pitch include?

A: The pitch must include the following:
  • Disease overview
  • Differentiation to what is standard of care on market or competitive edge
  • Confidence in scientific rationale/mechanism to work in the disease of interest
  • Quality of asset e.g. drug likeness
  • Intellectual property situation e.g. substance matter vs. formulation vs. indication
